Listeners Wanted!

August 9th, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of social life and the way people live and work. Health care workers, speech language pathologists (SLP), and ear nose throat specialists (ENT) are at high risk of contracting the virus. Facial masks have been recommended to be used by health care workers and their patients. We are currently examining the effects of wearing a mask on the sound of the voice.

We are inviting professionals who work within the area of voice to participate in an auditory-perceptual rating session of voice samples using an online rating tool called Bridge2Practice. You will be able to complete the online ratings of voice samples at a time of your convenience on the web link as below: https://bridge2practice.com/invite/x65mjmCXcHr9PHmJT. The whole task will take approximately 45-60 minutes. Outcomes of this research will inform current risk assessment protocols for voice professionals in clinical practice.

A Participant Information Statement for this research can be downloaded here. Please read this document for your information of the project. If you would like to participate in this project, you will be required to give your consent as you sign in on the weblink. Feel free to send an email to ask questions or indicate your interest to Dr Cate Madill: cate.madill@sydney.edu.au.
